Benefits of Virtual Therapy

your own space

You get to show up exactly where you feel most comfortable—on your couch, in your home office, beside your pet, or wherever you can exhale a little. Being in your own space often helps your body settle faster, which can make it easier to open up and actually do the work, not just talk about it.

No Commute

No driving across town. No sitting in traffic. That 20–30 minutes stays on your to-do list instead of being spent on the road. Many clients meet during a work-from-home break, from a parked car between errands.

AND without worrying about cold, rain, or bad weather. You can stay cozy in your house without moving at all for a session, regardless of the weather outside.

Accessible

Want to take a quick trip to the beach or the mountains and not miss your session? Easy. We can have the virtual session from the balcony of your trip.

Visiting family for the holidays and already know you’re going to need to sit in the car for a session & vent about the stupid shit Aunt Mary just said? We can make that happen too.

As long as you’re physically in North Carolina, therapy can travel with you.

Effective

Virtual therapy is just as effective as in-person work, including EMDR. Many clients actually find it easier to process and regulate when they’re in a familiar environment and don’t have to immediately transition back into the outside world afterward.

Virtual Therapy with Me

Working together virtually doesn’t mean the work is less meaningful.

Many of the women I work with are high-functioning, thoughtful, and deeply self-aware, yet feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns their body hasn’t fully let go of. Virtual therapy allows us to work together around your busy schedule.

I use EMDR therapy along with somatic and parts-based approaches to help you understand what’s happening beneath the surface and gently shift it. Sessions aren’t rushed or scripted. We move at a pace that feels safe, supportive, and responsive to your nervous system.

EMDR is just as effective online. We use guided self tapping or a link I send you for eye movement and/or audio tones for the bilateral stimulation.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Virtual therapy (also called telehealth or online therapy) is therapy provided through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Sessions happen in real time, face-to-face — just without needing to drive to an office.

If you’ve ever used Zoom or FaceTime, the experience is similar, but the platform I use is designed specifically for healthcare and privacy.

You’ll still receive the same level of care, attention, and therapeutic depth as in-person therapy.

You will get an email and text before the session that has a link for our video. Click that link, I will accept you into the session, and we begin.

  • Yes. Research consistently shows that virtual therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for anxiety, trauma, stress, and emotional regulation.

Some clients actually find virtual therapy more effective because:

    • they’re in their own environment

    • their nervous system feels safer

    • they don’t have to rush, drive, or sit in a waiting room

  • I use virtual EMDR protocols designed specifically for online sessions, including safe and effective bilateral stimulation methods that work remotely.

During our sessions that require bi-lateral movement (eyes moving back and forth or tapping or sounds), I will send a link in the chat box of the video session. You will open the link to a website that allows me to control how fast the eye movement and/or sounds go and when to stop/start. Some clients prefer self-tapping for processing as well which does not require a link - you simply tap your self as I guide you.

Trauma processing, resourcing, and nervous system regulation can all be done successfully in a virtual setting.

  • Yes.

My in-person space is in Wilson, NC.

Some clients remain fully virtual, while others prefer a mix of both, or switch completely in-person. We’ll choose what best supports your needs.

  • No special technology is required.

    You’ll need:

    • a stable internet connection

    • a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera (although if we are doing emdr processing you cannot use your phone)

    • a private space where you won’t be overheard

    • headphones (not needed but some prefer)

You will get an email and text before the session that has a link for our video. Click that link, I will accept you into the session, and we begin.

  • I am a private-pay practice and do not accept insurance.

This allows for greater flexibility, privacy, and depth of work without insurance-imposed limitations on diagnosis, session focus, or length of care.

  • Getting started is simple and flexible. You can choose the option that feels best for you:

    • Schedule a 15-minute free consultation call if you want to ask questions and see if we’re a good fit

    • Self-schedule a 60-minute virtual therapy session if you’re ready to begin without a consultation

    • Reach out through the contact form if you’re unsure which option to choose or prefer email communication

There’s no right or wrong starting point. Whether you want to talk things through first or jump in, support is available.

  • I offer different duration of sessions: 60 min., 90 min., 2 hours. The fee depends on which session length you are interested in.

Current fees are listed on my Fees page so you can review them clearly and transparently before getting started.

If you have questions about session length, EMDR therapy, or whether a standard session or intensive might be a better fit, we can talk through those options during a consultation.
