I’m Jaimy

LCSW • Therapist for Women • EMDR Trained • Founder of Shades of Her Therapy

I go by many different titles. Still? Just another human with some extra trainings.

Shades of Her Therapy was created to honor the complexity of women’s experiences. Women are not one-dimensional. We are allowed to have parts we don’t like. So many women are taught to minimize their pain or carry everything quietly. This practice exists to help women feel comfortable letting that go. You can make mistakes. You can speak up. You are allowed to be sad, angry, hurt, disappointed, tired, overly excited, talkative, and just yourself… without apologizing or feeling uncomfortable.

I work with women who look like they’re holding it all together on the outside, but feel overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or quietly exhausted on the inside. The women who show up, perform, joke, achieve, care for everyone else — and wonder when it’s finally their turn to exhale.

Every shade of your story is safe here.

Therapy with me is non-judgmental and grounded in the belief that we’re humans, not robots. Your pain and emotions make sense and deserve space. You don’t have to apologize for crying, being angry, - being a person. You’re welcome to show up exactly as you are; physically, mentally, and emotionally.

I bring dry humor alongside deep, meaningful work, because healing doesn’t have to be stiff or sterile to be effective. Some days I’ll be dressed up, other days I’ll be in sweatpants; and you’re invited to bring that same “come as you are” energy into the room. Our work together is meant to feel comfortable, real, and safe for both of us.

I primarily use EMDR, blended with approaches like compassion-focused therapy, parts work, DBT, somatic practices and polyvagal theory. This allows me to tailor sessions on an individual level.

Together, we’ll take the time to deeply understand your story, gently process the trauma and beliefs that no longer serve you, and build practical, real-life ways to move forward with a belief system that feels more aligned to who you are.

Non-therapy me?

North Carolina born and raised. First-generation college grad. ADHD through and through. Mom of two.

I love pink skies, vinyl records, chocolate anything, fresh air, being barefoot, heated blankets, and sitting cross-cross applesauce. I’m also learning to ice-skate (not very gracefully, but with enthusiasm.)

These everyday comforts shape how I move through the world; with presence, humor, and a lot of heart.
